The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
The preview shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
