Colts Take On Atlanta Falcons in Berlin – NFL Week 10

Guten tag, fussball enthusiasts. How are you? Alles klar I hope on this excellent early start to week 10 coming straight outta Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Indianapolis Colts (seven wins and two losses) take on the Atlanta Falcons (three wins and five losses). This marks the fifth matchup played on German soil and the first in the nation’s capital.

Pregame Highlights

As sparkly jackets go that is an real standout from the Olympic figure skater on the coin toss. A minor slip from Sky Sports there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.

So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have elected to receive. The Colts' offense will be taking the field soon. Will the QB bounce back after a difficult performance in their last game?

In a similar vein the singer belting out the US national anthem has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are bound to notice. Loving the sartorial choices today. We are almost underway after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Elegant.

Opening Period Gameplay

Scoreless at 13:30 in the first

And we're off! And we have an exciting start after Jonathan Taylor receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then fumbles … only for his offensive lineman to save his bacon with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.

Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter

And the drama keeps coming as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The gamble fails to pay off as Josh Downs fails to catch a fastball from Jones. Prior to the failed attempt the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on the Colts' tight end. Atlanta's defense started strong as they attempt to end their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!

Touchdown Updates

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter

Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The tight end drops a clanger, he was very open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That moment reflects the high draft pick's professional journey to date.

A disappointing start but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is sacked and fumbles the football.

A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the following play. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Oops.

TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter

Penix Jr puts the fumble behind him by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some chunky receptions to put them in the scoring area then the seas part for the running back to saunter on to the goal line through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. The Falcons take the lead.

Other Week 10 Matchups

Additionally, the jumbo package starting at 1 PM EST and 6 PM GMT (with home teams first) is as follows:

  • (5-4) Panthers v Saints (1-8)

  • (5-3) Bears v New York Giants (2-7)

  • (3-5) Houston Texans v Jaguars (5-3)

  • (2-7) Dolphins v Buffalo Bills (6-2)

  • (4-4) Minnesota Vikings v Baltimore Ravens (3-5)

  • (1-7) Jets v Cleveland Browns (2-6)

  • (6-2) Buccaneers v New England Patriots (7-2)

An exciting lineup. My pick for the best game is Minnesota and Baltimore playing out the game of the day.
