Battlefield 6 Gamers Are Convinced: Challenges Are Way Too Hard

The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, particularly for its top-tier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, many players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.

Users have commenced using personalized games created through the Portal feature to complete them, highlighting just how arduous these assignments have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Tasks

Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. It features four classes of assignments, but although many merely grant outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of obtaining 12 of the 41 primary weapons present in the game.

Some of these gated guns might eventually earn a place on rankings for the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry on Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most egregious examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This mission is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to scream in frustration," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is more diminished than before in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and is effective only at very short distances, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. The commenter also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge

Another Reddit user brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with sniper rifles

This is difficult enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine levels in the game at present, it implies you must stick to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and perhaps Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from beyond 200 meters.

The Alternative Method

Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on any map you prefer, including AI opponents. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.

However, when tackling the tasks in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for finishing these in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Potential Changes

It is expected if some of these assignments are toned down in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

At the moment, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these strenuous battlefield assignments, expecting a less arduous overall gameplay in future updates.
